I had a few minutes before my next appointment, so I went down to the East Bay to shoot some long shots of the ice that was building up on the shore of the point.
Suddenly, the lake started "talking" to me: groaning, complaining, whining. Then the ice started breaking up and piling up along the shore.
This "shard" started rising from the pile, just like that card rising from the deck in the magician's hands.
